Experience Summary:

 

With more than 30 years of experience in electrical design, Paul specializes in Electrical Heat Trace (EHT).  He began his career with the Department of National Defense (Navy) and served as an Apprentice Electrician (Submarine Service) and Maintenance Electrician & Foreman (Ships). He earned an Electrical Technology diploma (CFFS) and Integrated Machinery Control systems theory and maintenance training with the Department of National defence as well as an Instrumentation diploma (CFFS) Computer Training (assembly language, PLM language, C and C+ language) Leadership Training (Armed Forces JLC).  After 1997, he worked for numerous large engineering companies in the Oil and Gas Industry.

  • Suncor –  Safety Shower Heat trace design - Mackay River 

  • Tradesman Canada -Project Controls Field lead, including Construction progress Surveys, and comparing man hours to complete estimates, against construction progress reports. Planning the mechanical work required to Complete, Electrical equipment Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning Planning

  • Jacobs Engineering – Electrical Heat Trace Design Team Lead. Responsible for 45 Team member’s production and technical accuracy. Responsible for Shell EHT panel replacement Project (20M) Responsible multiple clients Responsible for producing Engineering estimates, project schedules using Microsoft projects, and TIC estimates to +-10% accuracy for electrical and EHT projects. Electrical U&O lead Designer and Project EHT Co-ordinator for the BAE Upgrader project to be located in Fort Saskatchewan Instituted design improvements and construction schedule changes to reduce project costs saving BAE $10 M

  • Rally Engineering - Electrical Project Field Inspections and Client Rep for Attigun Camp re-commissioning and Barge shipment project from Attigun Pass Alaska to Hope Bay Nunavut. Project Field Coordinator for Newmont Boston Camp, Nunavut Electrical systems upgrade and re-commissioning of a Camp built in 1954. Project Field Coordinator for Newmont Hope Bay Camp, Nunavut for a camp main feed 525kW online generator upgrade to a 725kW generator, during winter months, and other small multidiscipline work.

  • Shell Canada SUEX1 Project - Electrical Project EHT specialist for the Upgrader project to be located in Fort Saskatchewan. EHT scope 660 M. Project Chief EHT inspector responsible for ensuring Multiple, Contractors and Module Yards and site Construction Contractors, comply with the Project standards, and drawings. EHT Installation Trainer and Inspections trainer for all tradesmen going to work on Project EHT installations. Site wide Client Technical support for multiple Contractors. Instituted design improvements and construction schedule changes to reduce project costs saving $30 M
