Experience Summary:

 

Dean Chesterman has 35 years’ experience in power system engineering, starting as a summer student doing Transmission Substation maintenance, graduating into 25 kV Distribution System studies, Distribution Work Orders and Customer interconnections to 72 kV, 145 kV, 245 kV, and 500 kV Substation design and engineering packages including grounding studies and ground grid design, Protection Philosophy, conceptual engineering, transmission interconnection and alternatives studies, Single Line Protection and Metering Diagrams, the full electrical design Issue for Construction work package to 400 kV Cogeneration Interconnection facilities on the Thames River in England. Dean has had regulatory applications, system studies, relay protection, tele-protection, telecommunication design, electrical design, procurement management, construction management, ITP / commissioning responsibility, and engineer of record responsibilities for all aspects of the electric power system, from designing, specifying, and purchasing 600 V MCC installations, to 25 kV Distribution Line structure design and installation, to purchasing protection and control panels designed to his engineering requirements, to high voltage power transformers, circuit breakers, and instrument transformers to be installed into transmission and generator substations he has signed off as the Engineer of Record, to engineering responsibility for complete turn key EPC of skid mounted substations.

  • Project Management, Design Supervision, Engineering Sign Off, and Procurement Management of a seven Circuit Breaker 144 kV Ring Bus substation to connect two General Electric7EA 85 MW Gas Turbines and Four Load Transformers to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.
